Inspiring work & a very unique Lamp Post!
Here is an interesting letter we received recently that we’d like to share with our customers!I got it free last year from a friend, it used to be inHarrogate, it was a pale green and rusty. I stripped it with my grinder with a wire wheel fitted, very efficient. I painted it in red lead 2 coats and 2 coats gloss. My mate Eric, (73 at the time) made the top, all in galvanised steel. The top has 5 mirrors inside to reflect the light downwards. I engraved some animals on the glass, a fox, owl, frog and a hare (we like wildlife). The lamp holder is an old brass table lamp, the finial is made from a brass bowl, (upturned) and a modern imitation wall lamp fitting (again upturned) both these items came from the car boot sale. The lamp mounting is an old car starter motor body, and is secured to the lamp by the original pole shoe screws, my mate also made the mounting scrolls. It is a bit gaudy but, I like it and I have picked out the pattern at the bottom, it would be a shame to have it all the same colour. I have earth rammed it as it was like that originally, as there was rust, but no concrete at all on the base.
